Overview

YouTube Lyrics Overlay ("the Extension") is designed with privacy in mind. The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information about its users.

Data Usage

The Extension stores the following locally on your device:

• Overlay position, size, opacity, font scale, and toolbar open/closed state — stored in your browser's local storage to persist your preferences between sessions.
• No accounts, no user profiles, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party data collection.

All data remains entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any external server, except for the following API call:

• LRCLIB API — when you load a YouTube video, the Extension sends the video's title and artist name to lrclib.net to retrieve synced lyrics. This API call does not include any personally identifiable information beyond the video metadata displayed on YouTube.

Permissions

• youtube.com — required to detect the currently playing video, read its metadata (title and channel), and inject the lyrics overlay.
• lrclib.net — required to fetch synced lyrics for the detected video.
• storage — browser's built-in local storage, used exclusively to save your overlay preferences (position, size, opacity, etc.).

Cookies

The Extension does not use cookies or any other tracking technologies.

Data Retention

All preference data is stored locally in your browser. Clearing your browser's browsing data will remove stored preferences. Uninstalling the Extension will also remove all stored data.

Third-Party Services

The Extension uses the LRCLIB API to fetch lyrics. Please review LRCLIB's own privacy policy for information about how they handle requests.

Children

The Extension is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is ever updated, the revised policy will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date.
